GARMIN GAD 13 AND GTP 59 KIT
GARMIN GAD 13 AND GTP 59 KIT
I installed this with the Dayton temp probe in my RV6 that was equipped with dual G5s and the Garmin magnetometer and well worth the effort. Having instantaneous wind data alone is worth the investment. Density altitude is a added bonus!
This thing does zactly what they said it would. Git you one, youll be happy ! Better un ice cold beer on a hot afternoon.
Fairly easy to install unit and probe Once installed and configured Worked like a charm Well worth the money for the extra info now displayed on the two (2) G-5 units Highly recommend
Save some money. The GAD-13 will work with the Davtron probe. You don’t need the Garmin OAT probe.
At first, I was going to pass on the temp probe and interface option. Who cares about OAT anyway? Im a VFR pilot. Well, now Im starting to work on my IFR. And while its helpful to know if Im in danger of picking up ice, the real benefit is you unlock TAS and X-Wind information on the G5 and that alone is worth the extra 1/2 AMU for this option.
Great product
Had a glitch having the item released from Calif for shipping. Problem started in Peachtree City store not notifying that the item needed to be shipped.
Installing now but please be aware IT COMES WITH THE CONNECTOR KIT if you get the full kit. I thought, like most Garmin Experimental products where they try and extract as much flesh as they can from you and give you NOTHING as standard I would need the kit. Well there goes my $40 to Garmin. Credit to Aircraft Spruce, it says it comes with connections but it isnt totally clear. Just dont want to give Garmin any more of my (or someone elses) money. They already have too much!

The GAD13 comes as the unit only. The GAD 13 / GTP 59 comes as a complete kit with the OAT probe and connector kit. You will need the complete kit. The OAT probe can be added to the CAN bus for the dual G5s.
Yes, the GAD 13 is FAA PMA approved.
Per the manual that probe is not listed as an approved OAT probe. at the moment only the GTP 59 and C307PS.
No, The G5 will only display Density Altitude with the GAD 13 on the experimental version. The GAD 13 provides OAT and True Airspeed for certified aircraft.
Per the manual, the GAD13 uses the can bus to communicate to your G5/Canbus system. The OAT is directly connected.
With a standalone G5, the GMU 11 will be needed for the winds function to work properly as it needs to know which direction.
Per the manual, the GAD13 is 0.24 lbs the GTP59 has a weight of 0.3 lbs and has a 10 foot lead.
The GAD 13 is available as a bare unit for usage with a 3rd party OAT, or as a complete kit including a GTP 59 RTD OAT probe and connector kit.
No, the unit only does not include the connector kit. However, the GAD 13 and GTP 59 kit (part # 11-17436) includes the connector kit.
