Overview

Engineered for 10,000 hours of performance, (minimum), these flame retardant speakers sound clearer and last longer. The magnet assemblies are heavier than original equipment, yet the overall speaker depth is only 2". The voice coils are heat-proof to withstand high power levels and the gaskets are treated with a moisture barrier, for unprecedented reliability.

I installed this in a Beech F33A Bonanza as a replacement for the OEM speaker. I desoldered the original two-wire connector and moved it to the new speaker. Form, fit and function was perfect. The positive and negative terminals were even in the same relative position as the OEM unit.

Q&A

Please note, Aircraft Spruce's personnel are not certified aircraft mechanics and can only provide general support and ideas, which should not be relied upon or implemented in lieu of consulting an A&P or other qualified technician. Aircraft Spruce assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Q: Are these aircraft cabin speakers FAA/PMA Approved for installation in certified aircraft?

Per the manufacturer, no these are not FAA/PMA Approved.

Q: Your round Quam speaker, part number 11-04646, shows in your overview to be 6x4. I'm not certain where the mounting holes would be, I envision a round speaker having an equal distance on the sides, like 4x4 and the Oval speaker being 6x4.

Thank you for bringing this mistake to our attention. It has since been fixed in the Specifications tab. Please review the "Specifications Sheet PDF" in the documents tab. It has all the dimensions listed as well as drawings showing mounting hole locations. The round speaker, 11-04646, is model number 6C5FR. The oval speaker, 11-04649, is model number 46C5FR.

Q: I have a 6 round cabin speaker that I would like to replace. Will this speaker mount in the same place?

This is a 6.5" round speaker. There are no diagrams available.

Q: What is is the terminal connector size on these aircraft speakers?

The terminals are .205" wide.

Q: What are the dimensions of the screw holes of the oval model?

Please see the 4X6 oval dimensions found under the Documents tab on the web page.

Q: I see this speaker is an upgrade from OEM. Can you give me the diameter of the new magnet? I may have interference issues with an antenna if it is larger than the OEM one. 46C5FR

This will have a 3" magnet.

Q: Is the magnet on this speaker donut-shaped? On old 182s they were and fit over a steel nub to hold it in place.

The magnet is round but there is not a hole in the center of it.
